Esce «Venus in Darfur», secondo video dei Wonder Vincent tratto dal concept album The amazing story of Roller Kostner, che racconta tra country, rock e blues la storia del reduce Roller Kostner. Nel video, il giovane Roller fa i conti con il lato oscuro e poco creativo del Paese, quello in cui i giovani trascorrono notti intere di cui non ricordano nulla, quello in cui una ragazza può sparire e diventare solo una foto in un telegiornale.
Arriva online (sul canale Youtube del gruppo), dopo la settimana di anteprima streaming con migliaia di click sulla piattaforma Shiver, «Venus in Darfur», il secondo video della rock band umbra Wonder Vincent, tratto dal concept album The amazing story of Roller Kostner, uscito il 25 Febbraio 2013 con l'etichetta perugina CuraDomestica. Nel video un episodio della vita del giovane Roller, protagonista e filo conduttore delle tracce del disco, ma potrebbe trattarsi di un fatto accaduto in qualsiasi appartamento di studenti universitari in Italia. Lasciata la casa paterna, infatti, i ragazzi si trovano spesso a fare i conti con il lato oscuro e poco creativo del Paese, quello in cui trascorrono week-end interi tra bagordi notturni, risse e crisi isteriche, quello in cui una ragazza può sparire e diventare solo una foto in un telegiornale.
I Wonder Vincent raccontano senza giudicare, conoscendo bene il meccanismo auto-distruttivo di una vita fatta di scelte apparentemente vuote, non soddisfacenti, ma con la sicurezza di chi ha la musica a guidare il proprio cammino. «This is the amazing story of Roller Kostner... He woke up in the morning and he was lost», si sente per inciso nel brano. Può capitare, infatti, che chi cresca a Perugia, la città del delitto di Meredith, la città dove i tossicodipendenti in cura sono il doppio della media italiana e dove vengono vendute ogni giorno 6mila dosi di droga, si svegli e si senta perso.
Il contraltare alle occasioni perse per i Wonder Vincent c'è: oltre alla musica, i rapporti sinceri sono fondamentali. Nel video auto prodotto, scritto e diretto da Uliana Piro e dal batterista Andrea Spigarelli, con la post produzione di Bryan Traverso, protagonista insieme all'attrice Giulia Battisti, ci sono artisti della zona, componenti di band locali, tutti parte di un grande movimento creativo e solidale che rende Perugia, al di là dei suoi problemi, un luogo dell'arte condivisa.

“Venus in Darfur” is the Wonder Vincent’s second video extracted from their concept album “The Amazing Story of Roller Kostner”, which tells the story of the veteran Roller Kostner, among country, rock and blues music. In the video, the young Roller faces with the obscure and uncreative side of his Country: young people spend all the night out forgetting what they did the day after when they wake up, and a girl can easily disappear and end up in a picture of a news broadcasting.
It is now online (in the band’s youtube channel), after a week’s preview on the Shiver platform with thousands of viewers, “Venus in Darfur”, the second video of the Umbrian rock band Wonder Vincent, extracted from their concept album The Amazing Story of Roller Kostner, released February 25, 2013 with CuraDomestica, a famous label in Perugia. The video shows an episode of Roller’s life, protagonist and leitmotiv of the tracks in the album, but it may be seen as an episode of a typical ordinary university student’s life in Italy. Students leave their hometowns and they face with the obscure and uncreative side of their Country, spending the weekends among nights out, fights and nervous breakdowns, and a girl can easily disappear and end up in a picture of a news broadcasting.
Wonder Vincent tell without judging, having well known the self-destruction mechanism of a life made of apparently empty and unsatisfying choices, but sure that the music will guide one’s own path. You can easily listen to this in the song: “This is the amazing story of Roller Kostner… He woke up in the morning and he was lost”. It may happen , in fact, that who grows up in Perugia, Meredith’s crime city, where drug addicts in rehab are more than in any other Italian town and where six thousand drug doses are sold every day, may wake up in the morning feeling lost.
The counterpart to the lost opportunities for Wonder Vincent are, besides music, fundamental and sincere relationships. In the self produced video, written and directed by Uliana Piro and the band’s drummer Andrea Spigarelli, with the post production edited by Bryan Traverso, and the actress Giulia Battisti as protagonist, there are also artists of the area and local bands’ components, everybody part of a fantastic and creative movement that makes Perugia, besides its city problems, a place of shared art.
